MEET Don

Lifelong Pawtucket resident. Proud Mayor. Building a better tomorrow for our city.

Donald R. Grebien was raised in Fairlawn, Pawtucket, and has called the city home his entire life. A graduate of Davies Career and Technical High School and CCRI (Associate's in Business Administration), Don's roots run deep. Before public office, he coached youth Little League, girls' softball, and soccer for over 20 years. His career at American Insulated Wire — rising to Corporate Transportation Supply Chain Manager — built the business acumen he now applies as Mayor every day.

Don ran his first campaign for Pawtucket City Councilor-at-Large in 1997 and served 11 years, including a term as Council President. Elected Mayor in 2010 under the platform "A New Direction," he has been re-elected seven additional times, each time earning the trust of Pawtucket voters.

Don is a dedicated family man — husband to Laureen, and father to Alexa and Connor. He's active in his parish at St. Teresa, serves on the Knights of Columbus Delaney Council, and remains deeply connected to the Cape Verdean American Community, Preservation Society, Pawtucket Neighborhood Alliance, and many other civic organizations.
